Private Scan - When and Where?

After 2 early losses, I’d like to have a private scan ASAP with this pregnancy for some reassurance. I don’t want to go too early and be stressed about not seeing a heartbeat though! I was thinking of going at 8 weeks (since my LMP). Is this an ok time to go for one, or still too early? Also, where did everyone go? Private hospital / window to the womb etc? X

I went to ultrasound direct at what I thought was 7-8 weeks but turned out I was more like 10 weeks. I personally think it was a great time to see the baby for the first time because she looked more like a ‘baby’ I guess? I think 8 weeks would still be a good amount of time; all the best! x

I went at 8 weeks to window to the womb and so glad I did! That 12 week scan wait would have been horrible otherwise lol!

I went when I was around 7 weeks to window to the womb, and it was really good.

Thanks so much, ladies. Can I ask for those who went at 8 weeks, was it an abdominal scan or vaginal? Just been looking at some of the websites of the places you went to and some say vaginal, which I wasn’t expecting x

If it’s under 10 weeks, I think it’s usually a vaginal one. Think it’s because there’s no guarantee they’ll be able to see it properly with a normal ultrasound because it’s still so small 👍

I went to universal ultrasound diagnostics; they were amazing, friendly, and the place was clean. The sonographers were amazing.

Mine was vaginal at 10+4 but I think that’s more because I’m a bigger girl!

Mine was vaginal at 8 weeks, which was fine and not uncomfortable x.

Window to the womb, but best to leave it at least 6/7 weeks xx

I went at 7+4, had a vaginal scan. Could see the baby and the heartbeat. It was very reassuring.

If you had two early losses and you’re worried, you can ask the NHS for an early scan. I did that, and as there were complications, I also had a private scan at 19 weeks, and that was done at window to the womb.

I went on Thursday; I was 7w 1day and had an abdominal scan; could see the baby, yolk sac, and heartbeat flickering xx

8 weeks is good; you need to see a heartbeat by then if things are ok, and the baby looks at least a little like a person by then (they look like a gummy bear).

I did 6 weeks at the hospital due to previous losses. I have a ten week booked next weekend with ultrasound direct to ease nerves as I’m sure this will be a miscarriage.

Window to the womb had both baby scans there; just had my gender scan for our second, and they are really good!

We used window to the womb for private scans throughout the pregnancy! They were so nice, and we purchased a heartbeat bear each trip to track his heartbeat getting stronger 💖

@Becky I thought I was 7+6, measuring at 8+1. They only do abdominal where I went.

Having been there, I know how hard that wait is, but if you can hold out until 9/10 weeks, the scan will be much better. The earlier you go, you could end up not being as far along and scans can be inconclusive and cause more worry. I'm so glad we held out. Luckily, we got our rainbow, but if it was going wrong again, we'd have had a definitive answer then rather than back and forth like the first time. Wishing you the best of luck 🤞🏼🍀

I went to window to the womb for a reassurance scan, and it was a wonderful experience. I think 8 weeks is a really good time to go, as I know how hard it is to wait, but it’s also not too early. It will be transvaginal x

I went to universal ultrasound diagnostics twice, one at 7 weeks and one at 10 weeks. Honestly, I was blown away by how professional they were. They are a brand new company, but I wouldn’t go elsewhere. Chaperones were professional, sonographers were extremely professional, took their time, answered any questions you needed to ask, took photos of baby (even though my 7 week one was a blob), and provided a report to take away with us.

Hi everyone! I gave birth via emergency c-section 9 months ago as my baby boy was measuring big; he pooped inside, so there was a risk of him inhaling it, and I wasn’t progressing past 3cm to have a natural birth. Now I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I’m having a consultation on Tuesday to talk about birth options and to have any questions answered, but I don’t know what to ask. I feel like it would be safer having a c-section again, but at the same time, I don’t want a c-section. Does anyone have any question ideas I could ask or any advice/stories of similar situations? Tia.
